Federal Relief Program

Southwest Texas Communications (SWTC) is pleased to announce that it has elected to participate in the Affordable Connectivity (ACP) Program to help eligible customers affected by the pandemic receive financial relief for essential broadband services, while the ACP Program lasts.

The ACP Program is a federal initiative to help lower the cost of high-speed internet for eligible households during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Up to $30/month discount for broadband services;
  • Up to $75/month discount for broadband services for households on Tribal lands

SWTC will notify all participating customers when the program will terminate. Upon termination, normal rates will be restored.

Enrollment in the ACP is now open for households with at least one member qualifying under any of the following criteria:

  •  Has an income that is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines; or
  • Participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Public Housing Assistance, SSI, WIC, or Lifeline;
  • Participates in Tribal specific programs, such as Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal TANF, or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations;
  • Is approved to receive benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision in the 2019-2020, 2020-2021, or 2021-2022 school year;
  • Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year; or
  • Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider’s existing low-income program.
  • Step 1: Interested households must establish their eligibility using the National Verifier. Please visit from any computer or mobile device to complete the electronic application.
  • Step 2: Once the electronic application has been successfully completed, eligible households must enroll with SWTC by completing Affordable Connectivity Program Opt-In Paperwork, available upon request. Eligible households may obtain broadband service supported by the ACP Program from any participating provider and a participating household may transfer their ACP Program benefit to another provider at any time without experiencing early termination penalties.

The ACP Program benefit is separate from any existing Lifeline benefits and is subject to verification of the customer using the discounted broadband service.
